Timing belt conveyors
Kanya timing belt conveyors are suitable for precise transport and positioning tasks in both continuous and indexed operation. The positive timing belt drive provides slip-free power transmission, high repeatability and stable load guidance, even in dynamic processes.
Timing belt conveyors are available as single-lane, double-lane or multi-lane systems. Their modular design, based on Kanya’s modular aluminium extrusion system, enables easy integration and future expansion of the conveyor line.
Advantages Timing belt conveyor
- Precise cycling and positioning
- Long conveying distances of up to 12 m
- High total load capacity up to 400 kg
- ESD-complaint design
- Low-maintenance system
Areas of application
Timing belt conveyors are used wherever conveyed goods need to be precisely positioned, guided synchronously or transferred in a synchronised manner. Typical applications include automation, assembly and testing technology, as well as interlinking with workpiece carriers. Depending on process requirements, single, double or multi-line solutions are available.
ESD configuration
For electrostatic-discharge-sensitive applications, the timing belt conveyor is available in an ESD-safe configuration. An official test report issued by an accredited inspection body confirms full compliance with the requirements of IEC 61340-5-1.

Frequently asked question (FAQ)
What industrial applications is a timing belt conveyor suitable for?
A timing belt conveyor is suitable for precise transport and positioning tasks in continuous and indexed operation. It is particularly useful when conveyed products must be positioned accurately, guided synchronously or transferred at defined intervals. Typical applications include automation, assembly and testing technology, as well as linked systems using workpiece carriers.
When is a timing belt conveyor more suitable than a belt conveyor?
A timing belt conveyor is the better choice when dimensionally stable components must be positioned precisely, conveyed synchronously or transferred in indexed operation. For products that are not dimensionally stable, the selection guide in the brochure recommends alternatives such as belt conveyors, product holders or workpiece carriers.
What conveyor lengths, speeds and loads are possible?
The Kanya ZF40/40 series covers conveyor lengths from 400 to 6,000 mm, total loads of up to 160 kg and speeds from 3 to 44 m/min. The ZF40/80 series is designed for conveyor lengths from 550 to 12,000 mm, total loads of up to 400 kg and speeds from 5 to 78 m/min. Both series use a 32 mm wide timing belt.
Is the Kanya timing belt conveyor available in an ESD-safe configuration?
Yes. An ESD-compliant version is available on request. For electrostatically sensitive applications, a tested configuration is available that supports use in ESD protection zones in accordance with IEC 61340-5-1. Inspection report.
Which series is better suited to my application, ZF40/40 or ZF40/80?
ZF40/40 is the compact and cost-effective solution for light to medium-duty applications with shorter conveyor lengths. ZF40/80 is the more robust version for longer conveyor lines and higher loads. Its 40 × 80 extrusion provides greater bending stiffness and more stable integration into machine frames and support structures.
Which drive types are available and when is each one suitable?
Kanya offers indirect head drives, direct head drives and versions without a motor. The indirect head drive requires little installation width and is used where space restrictions prevent the use of a direct head drive. The direct head drive is intended for ZF40/80 and is suitable for straightforward, cost-effective applications. The version without a motor is particularly suitable for multi-lane systems or for connecting customer-supplied motors via a flange. In addition to 400 V solutions, 24 V motors are also available.
Which timing belt surfaces and special versions are available?
The timing belt is adapted to the conveyed product, environment and process. Available options include accumulating and high-grip surfaces, electrically conductive ESD versions, FDA-compliant versions for food applications, and friction- and noise-optimised coatings such as PAZ for higher speeds. For indexed processes, cleats can be screwed onto the belt to positively locate components. When specifying the conveyor, Kanya considers the conveyed product, temperature, hygiene, electrical requirements, friction, wear, indexed operation and maintenance access.
How maintenance-friendly is a timing belt conveyor?
The system is designed for low-maintenance operation, with straightforward belt replacement. The timing belt can be replaced quickly at the idler end by releasing the tensioners, without any additional disassembly.
What options are available for the base frame and accessories?
Base frames are available in Series 40 and 80. They are designed for single-lane and multi-lane arrangements with different lengths and inclinations. Levelling feet are available for stationary use, braked swivel castors for mobile applications and attachment brackets for rigid mounting. Accessories listed in the brochure include side rails, shaft guards and emergency stop switches.
How flexibly can the timing belt conveyor be integrated into existing systems?
The integration concept is deliberately modular. The drive can be mounted on the left or right. The motor and terminal box can also be aligned independently in 90° increments. Combined with the Kanya modular system, variable base frames and different lane configurations, the conveyor can be adapted to the installation conditions, process layout and access requirements.
What information does Kanya need to specify a suitable timing belt conveyor?
For a reliable specification, Kanya primarily needs information about the conveyed product, process and installation conditions. The checklist in the brochure sets out the key parameters.
These include the total load; the material, dimensions and weight of the conveyed product; ambient temperature; conveyor length; number of lanes; drive type; operating mode; conveying speed; supply voltage; and options such as side rails, a base frame or an emergency stop switch.
